Hiring in the Hub 5/29-6/5: VMware's CTO Loss Is Infinio's Gain

Boston's business elite has been busy this past week. Catch up on who's going where below:

Cambridge storage acceleration startup Infinio welcomed Scott Davis, the former CTO of VMware, aboard this week. Davis will move into the chief technology role at the company, stepping into the role of founder Vishal Misra, who will become the chief scientist.

“Today, Infinio is focused on storage acceleration for VMware, and virtual desktop deployments are a key growth market,” said Infinio Co-founder and CEO Arun Agarwal in a statement. “As such, there simply isn’t a more ideal CTO than Scott to complement our already seasoned executive team."

Portland, Maine’s CashStar picked up new chief marketing officer John Caron. Most recently, he served as vice president of marketing at Catalina Marketing. President and CEO of the gift card company Ben Kaplan said in a statement, “John’s experience working with retailers and his success in the e-commerce, mobile and digital media industries make him a perfect fit for CashStar.”

Boston’s Lavastorm Analytics announced this week that it has added executive and investor Woody Benson to its board of directors. Benson currently serves as a General Partner of Prism VentureWorks, and as a Director for LogMeIn, ExpoTV, Arccos Golf, Woosports and Swirl Networks, among others.

Cambridge-based Ironwood Pharmaceuticals filled another seat on its board of directors this week. Douglas Williams, Ph.D., will now serve on the firm’s board to influence and augment its growth. He currently holds the position of executive vice president at Biogen Idec, and was the former CEO of ZymoGenetics.

Charlestown soda company Spindrift is planning to make more hires in the months ahead. The startup took its team from four to eight people in the last 60 days, after securing more than $2 million in funding from St.Louis-based Prolog Ventures reports the Boston Business Journal.

Dublin software-as-a-service startup Profitero is looking to break into the Boston tech scene. The company just banked $8 million from local VC firm Polaris Partners, and is now looking to bring on two VP-level sales and marketing leaders to manage the North American market. Rumor has it that Profitero’s people are eyeing the Hub for the company’s next locale.
