June 12th marks the date of the second-ever annual Boston TechJam. Held in Faneuil and City Hall Plaza, the festival-style event is expected to entertain 3,000 attendees, eager to celebrate the strides of the local innovation scene with an evening of mingling and a top-notch pitch competition.
But let’s not forget the “jamming” part of the party.
Six bands from local companies will be rocking out on stage this year. And for added fun, there will also be a world-renowned comedic contortionist, aptly named The Human Knot, taking the stage. Yup, you heard that right. A contortionist.
“The sheer number of bands that submitted this year shows a tremendous amount of hidden musical talent in our innovation economy,” said Ben Maitland-Lewis, CEO of Presskit.to and Music Director and founding team member for Boston TechJam, in a statement.
This year’s batch of acts includes:
- Unclaimed Freight from Apperian
- Scrum of the Earth from NaviNet
- Comanchero from Harpoon Brewery
- Downtown Crossing Barbershop Quartet from Virtual Inc., Thoughtbot & Presskit.to
- ALAKAZAM: The Human Knot from Virtual Inc., Thoughtbot & Presskit.to
- HERRA TERRA from Sun Life Financial
- Greenline Inbound from SONiVOX and Localytics
While the music is blasting, people will have the chance to bop around to the stands of tech companies, startups, non-profits, artists and other organizations born here in the Hub.
And nothing rounds out a summertime fest like good eats and drinks. Attendees will wash down tasty dishes from some of the Hub’s best food trucks – Roxy’s Grilled Cheese, Mei Mei, Taco Party and more – with frosted Harpoon craft beers.
Congrats to all the Boston TechJam bands!
