Vhoto, an app that uses machine learning video technology to capture the perfect picture, has closed on an additional $750,000 in venture capital, taking its recently raised seed round to $3.1 million.
Thursday’s funding comes from Seattle-based Maveron, according to BetaBoston. Existing investors include Atlas Venture and Polaris Partners, along with the company's CEO and founder, Hugh Crean. Ramesh Raskar of the MIT Media Lab is also an advisor to the company.
Though officially based out of Seattle, the 13 person startup was founded by two local entrepreneur-in-residences – Noah Heller from Atlas Venture, and Crean from General Catalyst.
With 200,000 downloads, the app has already made a splash, and has popped up as the best new photo app in the App Store.
