Is it hot in here, or is it just Ovuline? The Boston fertility tracking startup got, ahem, frisky, this past weekend and created a sex map of the U.S. based off of tens of millions of data points from Ovia users.
The map shows how many times of average people in a U.S. state hit the sheets each month when they’re trying to get pregnant. As the data shows, lovers in Massachusetts looking to conceive get lucky about 6.09 times in a 30 day-period. Alas, that’s just under the national average of 6.10.
But hey, at least we’re not in Washington D.C. People have sex 4.62 times per months in the Capital, according to Ovuline’s data.
The top five most sexually active states according to Ovuline's data are:
Idaho, 7 days
Vermont, 6.94 days
Nebraska, 6.92 days
Wyoming, 6.9 days
Iowa, 6.83 days
Ovuline’s marketing data analyst, Isabella Patton spun out the map over the weekend “on a whim.” The chart is based on 4.35 million instances of sex, recorded by thousands of users in the Ovia app, which tracks health and fertility info for women.
Ovuline announced last February that it helped 50,000 women get pregnant in 2013. In 2014, however, the company is adding that same number of new users every month. The fast-growing Techstars Boston grad has raised more than $2.75 million.
