Boston’s Drizly announced on Wednesday that it has expanded into the sunny state of California, making its booze delivery service available on both coasts. Residents of Los Angeles will now be able to order their alcohol directly to their location with a single tap of their smartphone.
The new city launch comes just a week after the startup closed on a fresh round of seed funding worth $2.5 million, taking its total financing to $4.8 million.
Using Drizly’s app, people can scroll through and select from more than 2,500 beer, wine and liquor options. Partnering with local liquor stores, the startup promises that your package will be delivered in 20 to 40 minutes – which, if you’ve lived through L.A. rush hour traffic jams, is saying a lot.
“We've heard the West Coast is the ‘best coast.’ While we can't speak to that, we're proud to say the West Coast now has the county's best, most reliable, alcohol delivery with today's launch of Los Angeles,” Nick Rellas, Drizly cofounder and CEO, told BostInno over email. Added the entrepreneurial Boston College grad, “We couldn't be more excited to deliver the gift of time to people in Los Angeles through 20 to 40 minutes delivery with incredible selection, speed, and pricing.”
With the addition of Los Angeles, Drizly is now available in six locations, including Chicago, New York City, Brooklyn, the Hamptons and Boston.
