What to Watch in Boston Biz 5/19-5/23: Tech on Tap, MIT Sloan Symposium, Designers + Geeks

Happy Monday, Boston! Though it may be the first day of the week, there’s much to look forward to in the next few days – specifically four laid-back and fun networking nights, spread out across the city. Check them out below!

Monday 5/19

Drinks on Tap – Head down to Ned Devine’s tonight for this social meetup of mobile-lovers! You’ll mingle, drink beers and hear pitches from Mustbin, JungleRumble, PayPal Here and WalkJogRun.

Women’s Coding Collective: Project Night – Lady coders in town will make a stop at HubSpot tonight to hack away at their latest project at 6 p.m. Bring a laptop and an open mind, and get ready to make progress! Pizza, beer and other refreshments will also be served to stave off evening hunger.

Tuesday 5/20

Data Point Capital & Intelligent.ly: Tech on Tap – The first meetup was such a success that hosts Scott Savitz and Sarah Hodges are back at it again. Hang out and slug a brew or two with investors, entrepreneurs and startup team members come Tuesday. If you needed any more incentive, the first 200 people to show at Empire Restaurant around 6:30 p.m. will receive a free drink ticket, and 25 guests will be treated to a specialty cocktail from sponsor SmartLunches!

Boston New Technology May 2014 Product Showcase – Innovators will trip over to the South End’s Benjamin Franklin Institute of Technology to see the latest that Boston and Cambridge has to offer in the tech department. Each presenter gets five minutes in the spotlight, followed by a question and answer with the crowd.

Brite Space: Function, Comfort + Local Appeal: WeWork's Winning Interior Design Trifecta – To delight of local small business owners, coworking labs WeWork erected a pair of buildings in the Boston area a few months back. Hear the method behind the company's madness straight from Devin Vermeulen, the creative director at WeWork who oversees the design of all existing and upcoming WeWork locations on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.

Wednesday 5/21

MIT Sloan School of Management Symposium – MIT will pack together thought leaders, students, C-suiters and senior IT executives from around the world to seek out actionable insights from technological research and explore new technological innovations. The event kicks off at 8 a.m. at MIT’s Kresge Auditorium.

Food Loft: Branchfood – Those who just launched, or hope to launch, a food startup, listen up. Branchfood is hosting an event to let you in on the mysterious art of marketing your tasty, prettily packaged product. Led by #brandhack cofounder and brand strategist Ben Spear, the class will give an introduction to launching your food brand and one that you don’t want to miss.

Designers + Geeks Boston Social Mixer – Gulp down a beer and talk tech, startups and art with some – you guessed it – designers and geeks on Wednesday at Cambridge’s Meadhall.

Thursday 5/22

EO Accelerator Introduction with Les McKeown – EO Accelerator, which is part of the Boston chapter of the Entrepreneurs’ Organization, is holding an information session from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Wellesley Country Club. Interested innovators can swap insights during networking as well as learn from renowned serial entrepreneur and CEO and president of Predictable Success Les McKeown, who started 42 companies by the age of 35. Those interested in attending should RSVP to csaitz@creativestrategicsolutions.com.
