Hiring in the Hub 4/17-4/24: Polaris Gains a Partner, WiTricity Welcomes a New CEO

Boston's business elite has been busy this past week. Catch up on who's going where below:

Wireless power transfer company WiTricity brought in a new chief executive this week. Alex Gruzen will serve as the MIT-founded company’s CEO, following in the footsteps of Eric Giler. Giler, who held the role for over five years, will move to the firm’s board of directors.

"It's been an incredible experience watching WiTricity grow over the past five and a half years - what started as a science experiment at MIT has turned into a deeply funded, established business with a mature R&D team and an impressive licensee list," said Giler in a statement.

Gruzen most recently cofounded Texas-based Corsa Ventures, where he made early stage investments in tech startups within the Austin area. He has also served in senior management positions at Dell, HP, Compaq and Sony.

Local VC firm Polaris Partners welcomed Pat Kinsel onto its investment team as a venture partner. Kinsel, who will be focused on making early-stage investments in tech companies, is the former CEO and cofounder of social discovery app Spindle, which was acquired by Twitter in June 2013, and most recently served at Polaris’s entrepreneur-in-residence. Beyond his work for the firm, Kinsel has served as a mentor and visiting practitioner at the Harvard Innovation Lab, as well as a mentor to Techstars Boston. Get the full story here.

Wellesley-based Radaris, a European tech firm and people directory, has plans to give its Boston team a serious boost. The company hopes to add 300 employees within the next 18 months, according to the Boston Business Journal. Radaris is also on the search for additional office space in Wellesley, Cambridge or Boston proper.
