Apperian Opens Up API in Push to Build Partnerships

Apperian, whose platform helps companies securely manage their mobile apps, opened up its entire API on Tuesday. The move enables the company’s customers to take advantage of its platform and management tools, as well as extend their own enterprise mobile solutions.

The freeing of its API is the Fort Point-based company’s push to partner with complementary technologies. Keeping with an application-focused strategy, Apperian hopes to leverage the open platform to build ties with more tech.

Apperian claims that it is the singular solution in the enterprise mobility management market with a fully extensible platform that allows partners and customers to integrate and extend their own solutions into their own or third-party IT infrastructures.

“By opening up our APIs, we are now enabling enterprises and partners to leverage our capabilities as a true mobility platform,” said Carlos Montero-Luque, Apperian’s CTO, in a statement. Continued Montero-Luque:

The openness of Apperian’s platform is similar to what Salesforce did with Force.com. We offer the flexibility for customers and partners to easily integrate with their existing enterprise infrastructure as well as to offer new and extended capabilities on top of our platform. The API is broad, secure and stable and provides partners and companies with more freedom – which is important in a market like mobility management that’s filled with proprietary approaches.

More than a dozen partners have already integrated with Apperian’s platform, including IBM Worklight, Appcelerator, Mobiquity, Xamarin, iFactr, AnyPresence and ViziApps.

Apperian had a strong 2013 and more than doubled its number of bookings, with 150 percent year-over-year growth, according to its year-end growth report. Back in September, the startup rolled out a new program called ApperianONE, which enables companies to distribute and manage a single enterprise mobile app or unlimited public apps at no cost, for up to 100,000 employees.
