Boston has coworking spaces aplenty, from the Seaport's trendy WeWork to Back Bay's brand new Idea Space to Kendall Square's heralded Cambridge Innovation Center. On Thursday, we added a new one to the list: Coalition, a hot collaborative hub located in Downtown Boston.
"Boston has historically been a place to test bold ideas," said co-founder Farhan Abbasi in a statement, "so we built Coalition to be a space where innovators can launch their own."
Coalition is located on the nineteenth floor of 101 Arch Street, a quick skip from well-travelled Red Line stops at Downtown Crossing and South Station, right next door to the entrepreneur's oft-cited "play" aspect: Bars, restaurants and other forms of nightlife.
"We are proud to be a pioneer of the coworking movement in Downtown. We want to be part of the local ecosystem by making it easier for entrepreneurs to find the right workspace in a location they could be proud of," added Wellie Chao, another Coalition co-founder.
According to the release, Coalition has also partnered with local organizations, including the MIT Enterprise Forum of Cambridge, to help student entrepreneurs work alongside other local professionals.
Coalition is the third coworking space to move into the Downtown Crossing neighborhood, which is increasingly becoming home to the city's tech startups. In addition to its Seaport building, NYC-founded WeWork opened up a location across from South Station earlier this year. Techstars also recently relocated from Kendall Square to the Leather District, while the CIC and Space with a Soul are partnering up in a new spot on Milk Street.
With the addition of Coalition to the location, Downtown Boston is indeed becoming a the new mecca for migrating tech startups looking for flexible and affordable workspace.
