On-demand cleaning and repairing company Handybook announced on Thursday that it has acquired mobile car washing service Unsully. No terms of the deal were disclosed.
Along with the acquisition, Handybook will bring on Unsully founder Joe Nigro to look over the Boston area as a General Manager. Nigro will oversee the growth and operations for the brand within the city. (We wrote a story on Unsully and Nigro here.)
“Joe’s experience leading on-demand service businesses exemplifies his entrepreneurial spirit and intricate knowledge of the region. His work with Unsully illustrates his ability to jump into a fast-moving, competitive environment, earn results, and lead a team,” said Umang Dua, Co-founder of Handybook, in the release. “Boston is in Handybook’s DNA, it is our first home and has grown to become one of Handybook’s largest user bases. We’re thrilled to have Joe on board as we continue to develop and grow as a company.”
Nigro has been in talks with the New York City-based company for around a month smoothing out the terms of the deal, the entrepreneur told BostInno.
"Before the acquisition, what was really interesting to me about Handybook was how special the team was," Nigro told BostInno. "I was totally blown away by the team chemistry and how it all works. It kind of reminded me of the early days at Vsnap."
Prior to founding Unsully, Nigro worked at Vsnap, a business-to-business and business-to-customer video messaging service.
