6 Startups Want You to Treat Yo' Self, Boston: Here's How to Win a Day of Luxury

Sometimes you just need to treat yo' self, and six Boston-area startups have partnered to help you do just that, offering up an ultimate 24 hours' of luxury.

When Nima Zahedi, operations manager at Instacart, and Julian Jung, founder of Tablelist, initially started talking about how their startups could collaborate, the discussion was in jest.

"It started as a joke, because we didn't think there would ever be a way for a grocery delivery product and a nightlife product to work together," Zahedi told BostInno via email.

Suddenly, this "crazy idea" emerged, bringing together companies featured on Download Boston, a movement started by Tom O'Keefe of @BostonTweet to increase the awareness of local startups. After a few email threads and a whole lot of brainstorming in a shared Google Doc, Treat. Yo. Self. Boston 2014 was finalized.

From now until Wednesday, March 19, Bostonians can enter to win a prize pack of epic proportions. We're talking:

  • A fully-stocked fridge, courtesy of Instacart;
  • A personal Uber driver, on call all day and night;
  • A massage at a local parlor on Pingup;
  • An in-home meal with a private chef for up to six friends via Kitchensurfing;
  • Alcohol supply for the night and weeks ahead, delivered straight to your door by Drizly;
  • And a table at one of Boston's hottest nightclubs, thanks to Tablelist.

As an added bonus, all those who enter the contest will receive discounts from each startup regardless of if they win or not. Talk about a consolation prize.

"People don't think Boston has the best consumer tech scene," Zahedi acknowledged. "Part of the motivation behind the giveaway was really to band together and show off all the innovative companies in the Boston area."

After all, we need to help Bostonians realize everyday apps are being built in their backyard, and this promotion is helping achieve just that — in a way the average resident, unfamiliar with the startup ecosystem, can get excited about.

"Hopefully this can be something we do every year, and continue to add to the roster of companies participating," Zahedi said.

We certainly hope so.
