Cambridge-based women's health and big data startup and Techstars Boston grad Ovuline revealed strong 2013 growth numbers on Wednesday.
The company helped a whopping 50,000 women get pregnant in the last 12 months – in other words, that's a pregnancy every four minutes. Since its start in 2012, Ovuline has garnered hundreds of thousands of users – and continues to grow around 20 percent, adding about 50,000 new users a month. The company has also increased the size of its team three-fold, from five to 15 employees.
"We're really proud of the work we've done, not only because we've proven our business model, but because we've reached hundreds of thousands of women. Every day, we help thousands of them achieve their dream of starting a family. There's no more meaningful work that we could be doing," Ovuline Co-founder and CEO Paris Wallace told BostInno.
Ovuline has two main offerings, both of which at the moment are only available for the web and iOS, respectively: Ovia Fertility, its hallmark product that helps women conceive up to three times faster than the national average, and the newly released Ovia Pregnancy, an app that serves as a digital pregnancy journal for expecting moms. What's more, the latter product was voted the crowd favorite at WebInno back in December 2013.
Ovuline has also seen a 784 percent year-over-year increase in users, along with a 4166 percent year-over-year increase in user-submitted data points to 50 million total, both of which serve as significant signs of market interest and user engagement. Both apps have also reached the #2 spot in the Apple Store's Medical category.
Ovuline has raised more than $2.75 million to date, most recently landing $1.45 million in seed funding January 2013 from Lightbank, with participation from Launch Capital, LionBird and Techstars founder David Cohen.
