It's certainly tough being an entrepreneur in Boston, but one rarely imagines that his or her safety might be at stake.
Founder and ex-CEO of Gemvara and recent founder of startup dunwello Matt Lauzon had a run in with a robber on Thursday afternoon.
He first announced the situation over Twitter:
i just walked in to an office being robbed. convinced robber to leave empty handed and not stab me. and it was crazy.

last tweet was 100% serious - scared the crap out of me but on the bright side i think i may have had a positive impact on the guy's life.

The man, who called himself Jeff, walked into the dunwello office on Thursday afternoon, apparently with plans to rob the space. Lauzon posted the video, taken from a security camera in the entrance, on his blog. The coverage shows the robber stepping off the elevator, and captures most of the off-screen confrontation.
"I'm not trying to cause a problem ... Man, I've been in some bad situations myself. I'm not going to call anyone or anything," Lauzon says on the video amidst the encounter, seemingly cool under pressure.
After repeatedly asking if the man had taken anything from the office, Lauzon convinced the robber to leave the building, saying:
You're lucking out that I'm here and not freaking out, but please just don't come back.
