Boston-based marketing software startup ClickSquared announced Friday that it has been acquired by Zeta Interactive (formerly XL Marketing), a leading New York marketing firm.
ClickSquared CEO Sam Zales will move into the role of executive vice president of Zeta Enterprises, but will keep shop in Boston out of ClickSquared's Summer Street offices.
ClickSquared's cardinal product is its cross-channel marketing hub, a cloud marketing platform that consolidates and integrates the enterprise-class features to gives marketers neatly integrated, easy to use, cross-channel marketing and delivery capability.
The startup has raised $56.7 million in funding, most notably from Boston VC Flybridge Capital Partners. Flybridge partner Jeff Bussgang sits on ClickSquared's board of directors.
Coinciding with the acquisition is the parent company's rebranding and name change from XL Marketing to Zeta Interactive. The firm is best known for its database thats helps brands send out email offers to customers, along with its high-profile founder ex-Apple CEO John Sculley.
