As someone who wants to learn about what potential investors want in a start-up, who better to learn from than a Venture Capitalist?
VC David Skok, a General Partner at Matrix Partners, is going to share some of his knowledge with you about the art and science of growth hacking this Thursday, January 23rd at 5:30 pm in Fulton 150. His talk will be the second installment of BCVC’s Venture Launch series that will help you in your goal of participating in BCVC’s main competition.
To get a better understanding of Skok and his expertise, it is important to know how his career has unfolded.
At the age of 22, he started his first company. Over the next 25 years, he founded four in total: Skok Systems, Corporate Software Europe, Watermark Software, and SilverStream Software. Of the four, three of the companies went public, while one eventually failed.
From his blog, Skok writes, “I often remark that I learned more from that one failure than I have from all of my successes.”
In 2001, Skok joined Matrix Partners, a firm that had backed two of his previous ventures. At the company, he is known as a value added investor and for his broad focus on enterprise software (cloud, mobility, virtualization, etc.).
Since working at Matrix Partners, he has invested and helped JBoss, AppIQ, Tabblo, Netezza, Diligent, CloudSwitch and TribeHR have successful exits.
Skok also serves on the boards of CloudBees, Conductor, Digium, Enservio, GrabCAD, HubSpot, Meteor, OpenSpan, SageCloud, Salsify and VideoIQ, as well. Recognize some of these companies?
