This week, thousands of consumer-facing companies’ spokespeople will dust off their latest iteration before taking “the global stage of innovation” to unveil their tech in sunny Las Vegas.
Wednesday marks the second day at the 2014 International CES, which will run until January 10th, and there’s already been much buzzed-about moments at CES.
Yahoo! CEO Marissa Meyer had some help from the cast of Saturday Night Live, R&B crooner John Legend and other A-Listers introducing the Internet giant in her keynote. Breaking Bad writer Vince Gilligan talked the future of TV and video on demand services with Sony, while the blockbuster director Michael Bay stumbled over his teleprompter and promptly froze up on stage during his presentation of Samsung's new curved Ultra HDTV. Comedian Sarah Silverman popped in to do a quick number for Cisco's keynote, playing on the so-called Internet of Things trend that’s sweeping the tech sector, before cracking a joke at Bay’s previous blunder.
But come Friday, more than 50 companies from the Bay State will have debuted their cutting-edge gizmos and gadgets. We’ve selected a mix of nine Boston-area early-stage and public companies whose innovations will surely be getting some spotlight thrown on them this week.
