Over the course of 2013, Boston’s innovation community has worked tirelessly cooking up new companies, iterating on products and services, and scoring (or searching for) their next, essential round of equity financing.

In the last 12 months alone, the city’s universities, accelerators and co-working spaces yielded a generous crop of budding startups, each team developing its own disruptive idea. A number of companies with a few years to their name hit their stride and built momentum that will carry them through the new year, while others have maintained success and continued to inch toward their initial public offering.

As we approach the last leg of 2013, we reflect on the successes of the city’s innovation scene. But we see the end as a beginning.

A new year lies just a few days ahead of us, rich with opportunity. And we think that the following Boston companies, startups and investors are prepared to seize it. We’ve rounded up Boston’s people and products to watch in the New Year into one report designed to furnish the innovation forecast for 2014.
