Office Envy: Backupify’s Oh Holy Office Space, Holiday Style

While we’ve seen some sweet commercial real estate, Backupify’s new spot is truly divine. But even though the cloud-to-cloud backup solution provider is housed in a converted church, the company shows the most reverence for college basketball.

Backupify’s blue-and-white themed building sits just steps from Central Square. While that palate may mean little more than branded color coordination to you, the team knows those hues well: CEO and Co-Founder Rob May was born-and-raised in Louisville, Kentucky. Each of the meeting rooms is named after a university’s team (the largest being the University of Kentucky Wildcats, of course.) If you’re still not catching the connection, perhaps you don’t deserve the full two days of declared holiday that all employees receive for the opening days of NCAA March Madness.

But even when its not playoff season, Backupify knows how to celebrate. Take the holidays, for example. A gigantic inflatable snowman smiles jollily next to the office ping-pong table, spicing up the facility’s entryway. What’s more, this year, the business development team ran out one afternoon and bought the office its own evergreen, which is now fully trimmed with tinsel and ornaments downstairs. Words not out yet, however, on whether the team will be turning up the carols (or fight songs) on Rock Band – located in the old-choir balcony turned lounge, ironically enough – this season.
