7 Boston-Born Gadgets We Wish We Could Buy on Black Friday

For many, the day after Thanksgiving means Black Friday, when zealous buyers will flood Boston shopping destinations, holiday list in-hand, to take full advantage of the day’s deals. For some of us, however, myself included, that day means lazily sleeping off a lingering turkey hangover and scouting online bargains for Cyber Monday in the most seasonal way possible – without wearing real pants and from the cozy comfort of our couch.

But when it comes to your loved ones, sometimes traditional gifts just don’t cut it. Just how many years is it acceptable to give someone woolen socks and a Barnes & Noble gift card, anyway? It’s about time that we tap into talent within the bounds of Greater Boston to score seasonal swag for family and friends.

Local universities and startups have been pumping out sweet products that we’ve been lusting after all year long. Forget the two-for-one tacky sweaters. Frankly, we’re begging to get our be-mittened hands a number of hot tech items born in Boston – with a Black Friday-appropriate price, of course.

But alas! We live in a cruel, cruel world. Such gadgets will certainly fail to be found Friday on a shelf at the Pru, or anywhere really. Even so, we can’t help but yearn for the following list of contraptions and tech – both for ourselves and for gifting purposes.

We've matched the lucky folks on your holiday present list with some of the coolest made-in-Boston gizmos we think they'll love.
