The holidays are rarely short of hectic. Between brainstorming gift ideas for each one of your family members and perusing food blogs for a delicious dish for your Thanksgivukkah potluck, you barely have time to sleep, let alone actually get organized enough to make it out the door, list in hand, to shop for the aforementioned necessities.
On Wednesday, personal organization app Springpad announced it will be rolling out eight new notebook templates, including four specifically designed to relieve users of the seasonal craze.
The goal of the company's new templates is to enable people to plan and organize in baby steps, starting with classic-use cases.
"We found out that Springpad is really great for people who are essentially organized on their own, but as we turn toward the more mainstream consumer, what we understand is that people like a little help getting started," Springpad Co-founder Jeff Janer told BostInno.
The notebooks, then, ease people into the product and allow Springpad to onboard users contextually by providing them with the buckets within which to organize their life. With themes like Movies, Books and Recipes, users can be initiated into a more orderly way of life without having the stress of thinking up the system on their own.
"There's very much an emotional reaction to getting organized," shared Springpad CEO Jacqueline Hampton. "Getting organized is like forming a new habit, and it takes time. You can't do it all in one day."
With the templates, users start to establish a routine one project at a time, and receive more guidance and handholding throughout the process. This is particularly true for the four branded holiday notebooks, which offer numerous tricks and tools to help users maximize their most valuable possession – their time – this November and December:
- Holiday Meal Planner from Breville and top chefs from foodthinkers.com
- Holiday Home Organization from Peter Walsh, international organization expert, author and TV celebrity
- Holiday Shopping Survival Guide from Liz Gumbinner and CoolMomPicks.com
- Holiday Event Planning from organization and design expert Jeffrey Phillip
Each holiday notebook is broken down into three parts, such as Checklist, Tasks and Tips, all of which are distinguished and suggested by its particular designer. Users can then copy and paste a mix of the suggested to-dos, and even edit them to better fit their own lives. The various Tips sections also serve as databases for people to search within and return to for ideas throughout the season.
"We talk about the mainstream consumer a lot, and how much their juggling," explained Janer. "Anything we can do to help make it easier and help them organize, that's really our goal here."
