Half of You Will Be Doing Your Holiday Shopping From a Smartphone This Season

Alas, as discounted Halloween candy gathers dust on grocery shelves, and "Frosty the Snowman" jingles through the speakers of stores around the city, we must admit the inevitable truth–the holiday season is upon us. With Hanukkah hitting the same day as Thanksgiving, and Black Friday close behind, Boston's best shopping destinations, from Newbury Street to Harvard Square, are sure to be bustling with well-bundled shoppers looking to snag some deals.

But according to a recent study by Boston company Burst Media, the number of people actually out on the streets are destined to dwindle this season, on account of the proliferation of online shopping.

Get ready for Cyber Monday, shoppers: Around 46 percent of respondents will use smartphones and 42 percent will use tablets to browse potential gift buys and shop for holiday products this year–far outpacing Burst's past studies. Mobile shopping apps are also poised to play a larger role in shopping, with more than half of women and 2-in-5 men using mobile shopping apps at least somewhat frequently to aid in their e-shopping experience.

Take a look at all of the study's findings in the infographic below and happy shopping!
