Cloud-to-cloud backup provider Backupify announced Wednesday its expansion to its SaaS (Software as a Service) Salesforce.com product offering.
The new data backup and recovery technology will be immediately available on Backupify AppExchange. The updated product with provide even more backup for Salesforce, and focus specifically on metadata, including reports and their associated sources and filters, page layouts, email templates, dashboards, and other types of metadata.
In addition to the increased ability to backup metadata, Cambridge-based Backupify will also be making some changes to improve the user experiences, Backupify CEO Rob May tells BostInno. "We're constantly improving what the users see," May explains. "We're finding ways to improve what they can do with [the data] and how we can give them control around it."
With the ability to get at much more data, Backupify's Salesforce update allows the "living, breathing data hierarchies" it creates to "give companies a better overall experience by giving users the ability to replicate and reconfigure data," says May.
In addition to the company's determination to produce a refined, finalized product, one of the main reasons for the update is that Salesforce continues to make changes to its program and increase its functionality, and Backupify wants to take advantage of it, shares the company's CEO. The leading cloud backup provider has seen continued growth in its customer base for the Salesforce product. May reports that Salesforce users alone make up 8-10 percent of Backupify's revenue, and its growing fast.
"To accelerate growth, we have to make [Backupify] more applicable to growing segments of the market," says May. According to a recent Aberdeen research report, one out of three companies uses a SaaS application like Salesforce lose data due to accidental deletion, overwriting, malicious actions, and third-party corruption applications, says the release. These vulnerabilities make having reliable backup solutions essential.
Founded in 2008, Backupify also provides backup for Google Apps, Facebook, and Twitter, as well as other companies.
