Update: This post has been edited by the author based on feedback from the Boston community.
Sunglasses at night, Chase Garbarino sans pants, and a whole lotta ‘80s gear you thought would never see a dancefloor again... just a few of the gems that turned the Dave Balter Tech Prom in 2012 into a night for the record books. Well, it took more than a year to recover from the debauchery, but the party is back in action!
On January 23rd, the Boston tech community will descend on Red Lantern for sushi, dim sum, scorpion bowls, and a black tie dance party that will knock your socks off. It’s time to break out your fashion A-game, as last year’s king (Jeremy Weiskotten) and queen (Rebecca Corliss) pass on their crowns to this year’s most festive prom peeps. The throne is yours for the taking.
You were there last year. You know the drill. This time is nothing like high school. And you only live twice. So two words, Get. There.
The original prom crew is suited up and ready to rock! Veteran Tech Prommers Dave Balter (BzzAgent, Smarterer, Boston Seed Capital), Mike Troiano (m-Qube, Actifio), Jennifer Lum (Quattro, Adelphic), Cort Johnson (DartBoston, Terrible Labs) and yours truly (Intelligent.ly, Smarterer) are back for more. And we’ve added one new member, folks: Boston Seed Capital’s Nicole Stata. A seat on the prom committee was calling her name.
I don’t know about you, but I woke up the day after prom last year with a massive hangover, some incriminating black and white photos, a few new friendships and massive newfound respect for how the Boston tech community gets down. This is not a night to be missed.
It’s truly all happening thanks to the support of a few generous sponsors who’ve stepped up to turn on the lights and turn up the music. This year, your glasses will be filled and your minds wowed thanks to Boston Seed Capital, BzzAgent, SVB, Resource Technology Partners, Goodwin Procter and Rue La La. I thank you, we thank you, Boston thanks you...though my head on January 24th may not be thanking you.
Tickets are on sale now and they'll be hard to come by! Snatch 'em up early. We’ll see you at the bar.
