With the warmer months of the year on the way in Boston, we are seeing what appears to be a warming M&A environment in Massachusetts. Some Boston area firms are making acquisitions, while others are being acquired. Let’s take a look at some of the deals.
- Burlington-based Veracode has acquired cloud-based security risk management firm Longbow Security.
- Vertex Pharmaceuticals made its largest acquisition to date, purchasing a Seattle-based biotech for almost $5 billion.
- Ginkgo Bioworks acquired assets of a North Carolina biotech. Details of the deal were not disclosed.
- Michigan-based Altair acquired Cambridge Semantics, an analytical data firm. Cambridge Semantics' technology will be integrated into Altair's platform.
- DelCam Capital acquired Space Age Electronics.
- Hologic, a women's health company in Marlborough, acquired a U.K.-based breast cancer surgery technology developer for $310 million. Hologic declined to say whether it plans to operate the company, Endomag, as a subsidiary.
- Boston-based AI healthtech platform Kinto has been acquired by a Seattle firm called Rippl. Both companies are in the dementia care space.
- Boston tech firm 908 Devices acquired RedWave Technology, the largest acquisition it has made since it went public.
- Boston-based healthtech firm UptimeHealth acquired Dental Whale and its subsidiaries.
- Waltham’s Deciphera Pharmaceuticals Inc. is being acquired by ONO Pharmaceutical Co. for $2.4 billion.
