Thought Industries, a Boston-based provider of customer training and learning software solutions, has big plans for expansion.

In September, the company began a new partnership with Luminate Capital Partners via an investment of an undisclosed amount. That money is now being put to use: The edtech firm announced Thursday that it would hire 60 employees in its Post Office Square headquarters by the end of the year, effectively doubling its local headcount. The team currently has employees working in 17 states and a small office in Dublin, Ireland.

The personnel changeups started at the top. In December, Thought Industries said in a statement, the company hired Jeff Kushmerek as vice president of professional services and Rob Lubash as chief financial officer.

“It’s a transformational time for Thought Industries, and I’m looking forward to working with Barry and the team as we continue to advance our customer training solutions,” Lubash said. “Some of our most innovative 2019 product launches, along with upcoming initiatives, set the tone for substantial development and cutting-edge offerings for customers in 2020. I’m honored to have the opportunity to continue the trajectory of our continued success for this year.”

Founded in 2014, Thought Industries was featured as one of BostInno's 50 on Fire finalists in education the very next year. At the time, it had recently introduced 18 new branded digital learning websites and counted Reader’s Digest and Penton Media among its clients.

Today, the company says it works with clients of all industries and sizes, ranging from startups to Fortune 500. New customers in the Boston area include Customer Gauge, Spartan Race and TaxJar, and part of its expansion strategy for 2020 includes adding new clients locally.
