Next year, 27 digital health startups and 34 fintech startups will be incubated by MassChallenge, the zero-equity accelerator that turned 10 this year.
Beginning in January, the healthtech startups will have access to partners, a tailored curriculum and co-working space. At the end of the program, the healthtech startups will compete for more than $200,000 in zero-equity cash prizes. And from January to June, the fintech startups will work with partners to tackle specific challenges facing the financial services industry.
“This year’s finalists speak to the exciting future of fintech,” Devon Sherman, managing director of MassChallenge FinTech, said in a statement. “From ESG analytic plays to a-la-carte data marketplaces, the MCFT20 cohort represents a revolutionary approach to financial services, and we’re blown away by the vision of these entrepreneurs.”
Although the startups come from all over the world, the Bay State puts up a good showing. Of the startups joining the healthtech cohort, 12 are based in Massachusetts; in the fintech cohort, three are based in Massachusetts.
One of the healthtech startups joining MassChallenge is DynamiCare Health, the 2019 50 on Fire winner that aims to help patients struggling with addiction—particularly addiction to opioids—through the use of an online, mobile platform. Members of the public will have the opportunity to meet with the DynamiCare Health team and the 26 other digital health startups on Jan. 16 at MassChallenge's Drydock Hall space.
