The City Upon a Hill is among the top places in the US for job seekers, according to a new report from Indeed Hiring Labs. It comes behind just two other cities, both in the Bay Area tech mecca: San Jose and San Francisco.

Low unemployment and relatively low competition for jobs make Boston stand out. Indeed Hiring Labs determined the competition score by analyzing the number of clicks job postings on the site received by location. In both job posting click rates and overall employment rates, Boston scored a 91. Ultimately, job seekers in Boston faced the fifth-lowest unemployment rates of the cities analyzed.

Here in the City of Champions, employees ranked their companies highly in reviews, putting Boston at No. 11. But salaries put us squarely in the middle at No. 21.

Beantown's status as a hub for tech, the medical industry, and academia make it a particularly attractive destination for job seekers, the report's authors wrote.

Even though the West Coast secured the two top spots this year, Boston is coming for the win in 2020.
