This 4/20 news is a low blow. Remember 420 Suites? The marijuana-friendly lodging that launched with fanfare last summer?
The company, a spinoff of corporate rental firm Northeast Suites, shuttered two months ago. According to a Northeast Suites spokesperson, "the project has been put on the backburner."
420 Suites' website says the brand has been discontinued.
On the heels of its launch, The Boston Globe reported that the company will offer cannabis-themed products like hemp-infused shampoo, a glossary of local marijuana dispensaries and chauffeured transportation to and from local dispensaries. But in October last year, the Cannabis Control Commission decided to defer granting licenses to social consumption sites like cafes and theaters—including establishments like 420 Suites.
The spokesperson for Northeast Suites said the company will hold off on 420 Suites until regulations come through, and there won't be any activity on that front this year.
