The New England Venture Capital Association is hosting its seventh annual NEVY Awards which recognize and celebrate New England's top innovators and companies. This year's award ceremony will be hosted on Wednesday, May 8 at Boston’s House of Blues.
NEVCA does not select the nominees; they are selected by academies consisting of seven to ten investors in different sectors. This year there were three - for health care, life sciences and tech. You can find the full list of investors here.
The association works with academy members providing them with the data on companies.
"We do a lot to integrate local companies and our investors into the show," said Jody Rose, president of the NEVCA. "A lot of investors and companies in the ecosystem use it as an opportunity to celebrate. It is the anti-tradition to award shows, we are about doing things differently."
Technology award categories and nominees are:
- Tech Exit of the Year: PillPack, Carbon Black, CloudHealth by VMware, EverQuote
- Rising Star in Tech: Humatics, ClimaCell, Soft Robotics, Inrupt Inc., Crayon, Root AI
- Next Tech Home Run: Formlabs, DataRobot, Toast, Inc., ButcherBox, Salsify
- Hottest Tech Startup: Klaviyo, Bevi, Drift, Embark, Owl Labs
- Next Cornerstone Tech Company: Carbon Black, SimpliSafe, EZCater, DraftKings, Affirmed Networks
- CleanTech Company of the Year: Via Separations, XL Hybrids, EnergySage, Bevi, Cambridge Crops
Healthcare award categories and nominees include:
- MedTech Company of the Year: Augmenix, Vapotherm, Avedro, Conformal Medical, Inc., Selux Diagnostics, Renovia Inc
- Healthcare IT Exit of the Year: PillPack, SHYFT Analytics, Covetrus (Vets First Choice), Circulation
- Healthcare IT Startup of the Year: Pear Therapeutics, Devoted Health, Iora Health, PatientPing, Virtudent, Diameter Health
Life Sciences award categories and nominees include:
