A new co-working space is opening its doors in Back Bay, trying to stand out in the neighborhood that crams WeWork, Workbar and The Yard locations in the space of a single T stop between Copley and Arlington.

The Wing, a network of work and community spaces designed for self-identifying women, announced on Wednesday it will be opening a co-working space in Boston in the spring of 2019.

The 10,500-square-foot location will be part of a network of five spaces that are already up and running in New York, Washington D.C. and San Francisco, plus another space in Los Angeles opening in January next year.

The company said that it chose Boston after receiving feedback from women and potential members in the city.

Launched in October 2016, The Wing is a women-focused network of community and co-working spaces that raised a total of $42.5 million in funding.

The leading investor in its latest $32 million round in 2017 was WeWork, which said that it was "looking at this as a very long relationship" with The Wing, where "nothing is presupposed but nothing is off the table either."

In Boston, the new space will consist of two penthouse floors with a seasonal terrace, showers, lockers, conference rooms, phone booths and a lactation room. The design inspiration of the space will be rooted in the women's colleges of Boston.

An annual membership at a single location costs $2350, including access to both the space and member-only events. Applications to join the Boston space are open since Wednesday.

The Wing doesn't have an exact date for the launch yet, and refused to disclose the address of the new space in Back Bay, nor the number of people it can accommodate.
