Waltham-based online learning platform Skye Learning launched this week with an online survey that found that 44 percent of workers do not think their college education prepared them for their career.

The survey, commissioned through online sampling company ResearchNow, keyed into the perceptions of 1,004 adults between the ages of 21 and 70 who had at least a high school diploma.

Notable findings include:

  • 40 percent of respondents said they feel secure at their current jobs, and about 23 percent said they need to upgrade their skills to remain employable;
  • 25 percent of people saw their college degrees mainly just as a credential to help them get interviews;
  • 17 percent say their college educations had no impact on their careers.
