On Monday, April 16, the 122nd Boston Marathon is ready to take place - with over 30,000 runners competing in the traditional 26.2-mile race.
Runners will weave through the streets of Hopkinton, Framingham, Natick, Wellesley, Newton and Boston to cross the finish line on Boylston Street, near the John Hancock Tower in Copley Square. Runner waves are scheduled to begin at 8:40 a.m. through 11:15 a.m.
To keep track of all the runners on race day, the Boston Marathon gives interested family and friends the ability to follow their favorite athletes via mobile, website and TV.
Tracking With the App
The B.A.A. Marathon app contains information for runners, watchers and volunteers. There's also a feature called "live tracking" to check out the progress of a specific runner in real time. To find a participant, users need to enter his or her name, email address or start number. Here are the links to download the app (iOS here and Android here).
Boston Marathon Website
Before the start of the race, viewers and supporters can see who's officially entered the 2018 Boston Marathon via the Boston Marathon website. Just type a person's name or last name, and you'll see his or her bib number and wave.
