The Harvard Innovation Labs announced a move that combines its flagship Venture Incubation Program (VIP) with the Harvard President’s Innovation Challenge (PIC).
In short: the VIP program is a 12-week program that's meant to help Harvard startup founders grow their venture. For the first time, each of the teams selected for the spring cohort of the VIP program will have the opportunity to compete for $310,000 in funding as part of the Innovation Challenge. The challenge encourages students to create ventures that address pressing issues facing the world, and awards seed money to the top performers in several categories.
"Combining the PIC with the VIP helped us attract more than twice as many applicants to the spring program," Harvard said in a statement. "Our advising team enthusiastically reviewed more than 400 applications, and selected 123 ventures to participate in the 2018 Spring VIP."
