RateGravity, a Boston-based online mortgage lending platform that went through Techstars this year, has added another banking and finance veteran to its team.
On Tuesday, the fintech company announced that it hired Mike Ma, a former Bank of America and Betterment executive, as its CMO. This comes several months after the company added Massachusetts' former top financial watchdog David Cotney as a regulatory advisor and raised a $2 million seed round.
Founded by former community bankers Patrick Boyaggi and Mike Tassone, RateGravity provides an automated service for matching homebuyers with low-interest mortgages and homeowners with refinancing options that promises to save them money by taking out the middleman. Before participating in this years' Techstars cohort, the startup was named as one of the 2016 winners for the MassChallenge startup accelerator.

Ma was most recently founder and managing partner of Horsepowered Partners, a sales and marketing consulting firm that had RateGravity as a client. Prior roles include senior vice president and head of digital strategy of innovation at Bank of America and chief growth officer at investment platform Betterment.
“In a process that can be both opaque and unnecessarily costly for consumers, RateGravity is empowering homebuyers across the Commonwealth through its powerful technology platform and trusted network of local lenders. I am excited to tell their stories in the days ahead," Ma said in a statement
