Raizlabs, a mobile app development firm headquartered in downtown Boston, is getting acquired by Chicago-based customer experience agency Rightpoint. Financial details were not disclosed.
Raizlabs Founder and CEO Gregory Raiz will join Rightpoint’s leadership team as Chief Innovation Officer, based in Boston. The Raizlabs office in Oakland, Calif. will become Rightpoint’s ninth U.S. office, while the Raizlabs and Rightpoint Boston offices will join forces.
In 2015, Raizlabs employed 55 people and earned a spot on the Inc. 5000 list for its $5 million in revenue in 2014 and 200 percent revenue growth over three years. One of its best-known products is SketchPad HD (no longer available), an app to draw and take notes on iPad that made it onto Apple’s Top 30 Paid Apps in 2010.
In August, Raizlabs hired Craig Spitzkoff as its new vice president of technology strategy. Spitzkoff helped found Raizlabs before leaving the company in 2013.
Raizlabs’ capabilities in mobile technology – specifically its recent work in medical and e-commerce mobile – as well as voice, IoT, wearables, artificial intelligence, and virtual and augmented reality offerings were at the core of the deal. Raizlabs' partners and clients will grow Rightpoint's portfolio. Specifically, Raizlabs counts Google, Apple and Amazon as its partners and Six Flags, AAA, Perkins School for the Blind, L.L. Bean, and Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority as its customers.
