The Top Boston Tech Hires, Promotions (and Departures) in August



August has come and gone, but it definitely wasn't a sleepy month. Case in point: Look at all the hiring and promoting that happened within the Boston tech community.

Accomplice announced Cack Wilhelm as its newest partner. In the past, she had held investment roles at Scale Venture Partners and Montgomery & Co. and gained sales experience at Cloudera and Oracle.

BevSpot hired Neha Singh as its director of marketing. She was previously director of business marketing at Jana.

Brainshark, a Waltham-based provider of sales enablement software, hired Colleen Honan as its chief sales officer. She was most recently VP of worldwide sales at SiriusDecisions.

• Brightcove appointed Tomer Azenkot as its new VP of media sales for the Americas. Prior to joining Brightcove in 2014, Azenkot was the GM for Asia Pacific at Dalet Digital Media Systems.

Carbon Black hired Thomas Hansen as its chief revenue officer and executive VP. He was previously the top global sales executive at Dropbox. The company also hired Gar Smyth at its new VP of marketing. He was previously VP of marketing and sales development at DataXu.

CareDash.com, a healthcare review site, added Arun Mohan as a medical advisor. Mohan is an Adjunct Assistant Professor of Medicine at Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia.

Catalant’s chief experience officer, Brian Kalma, stepped down and is now working on a new stealthy commerce startup called Wondermile with Fashion Project founder Anna Palmer.

• The City of Boston hired Jackie Lender as its new startup manager. In the past, she was a civic tech fellow at Microsoft in Cambridge.

ClimaCell, a new weather forecasting startup we profiled earlier this year, hired Yotam Yemini as its new VP of sales. He previously held the same position at Turbonomic.

• Cogito, a provider of emotional intelligence software, made two appointments: Margaret Olson as SVP of engineering and Veronica Lee as VP of customer success. Olson was most recently CTO and co-founder of Nix86, and she also served as Constant Contact's CTO from 1997 to 2005. Lee was most recently at Oracle.

Como Audio, the home sound system company from Cambridge SoundWorks founder Tom DeVesto, hired Stacey Kerek as president. Kerek was previously VP of operations for speaker company Bowers and Wilkins. She also worked with DeVesto at his previous company, Tivoli Audio.

CyberArk promoted Ron Zoran to its new position of chief revenue officer. Since CyberArk’s founding in 1999, Zoran has held leadership positions across the organization in sales management, research and development, and technical support.

Endurance International Group, the owner of Constant Contact and other brands, hired Jeffrey Fox as its new CEO. He will take over from founding CEO Hari Ravichandran, who started Endurance in 1997. Fox was the former CEO and chairman of a company called Convergys.

• Everbridge hired Robert Hughes for the company's newly created position of president. Hughes was most recently president of worldwide operations at Akamai. The company also hired Javier Colado as SVP of international sales. Colado was most recently a SVP at Intralinks.

Fasten, a local Uber competitor, hired Jennifer Brogan as its head of corporate communications. She was previously at PR firm Kel & Partners, where she was EVP.

Indigo, a Boston-based agriculture tech company, hired Jeff Poulton as its new CFO. Previously, he held the same position at Shire Pharmaceuticals, where he also was a member of the company's executive committee and board of directors.

Janeiro Digital hired Dana Córdova as its SVP of marketing. She was previously the CMO of Safr, whose CEO Syed Zain Gilani was arrested for allegedly defrauding the government and has denied any wrongdoing.

MassMutual named Nabil Hachem as its head of data engineering. Hachem, who has nearly four decades of data management, architecture and engineering experience, was most recently at Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research.

• Mavrck, an influencer marketing platform, promoted Liz Gottbrecht to VP of marketing. Gottbrecht, who joined Mavrck in 2015, was previously director of marketing for what is now known as American Inno, the digital media and events company that owns BostInno.

Morphisec, an Israeli cybersecurity startup, hired Paul Laracy as senior director of U.S. channels in its Boston office. He was previously senior manager of channel sales at Lieberman Software.

Openbay, an online marketplace for auto repair, hired Jim Gregoire as its chief product officer. He was previously VP of product for Placester.  

PatientPing added Sean Cavanaugh as an advisor. Most recently, Cavanaugh served as the head of the Center for Medicare.

Placester hired Juliana Casale as its director of marketing. She previously held the same role at ReferralMob.

PTC added Dr. Corinna Lathan to its board of directors. Lathan is the CEO and co-founder of biomedical engineering company AnthroTronix.

Raizlabs hired Craig Spitzkoff as its new VP of technology strategy. Spitzkoff helped found Raizlabs before leaving the company in 2013. He was most recently a principal architect of mobile applications at Sanofi.

Repsly, a provider of field team management software that recently closed a seed round, added two people to its leadership team: Matthew DePaolis as VP of customer success and Allen Bonde as VP of marketing. DePaolis was previously partner enablement manager at Autodesk, and Bonde was previously SVP of marketing at Placester.

Talla, a provider of AI-powered service desk software, hired John Roberts as senior director of product. Roberts has held senior roles at Neva.ai and ServiceNow.

Wayfair hired Arthur Matuszewski as its head of strategic talent sourcing. He was previously a talent strategist at Fahrenheit 212. Separately, Kate Margolis, who left Wayfair in June after working on its PR team for over three years, joined Lyft as a corporate communications lead.

XFactor Ventures, the seed fund for women-founded startups launched by Flybridge Capital, added New York-based Credit Hero CEO and co-founder Nicole Sanchez as an investment partner.

ZappRx hired Libby Curtis Webb as SVP of product. Before joining ZappRx, Webb served as SVP of product at Copatient.
