Last fall, we reported in the BostInno Beat newsletter about a leadership change coming to Techstars Boston, with Semyon Dukach and Eveline Buchatskiy stepping down at the end of the spring 2017 class. Now we know who's taking their place.

Dukach revealed that Techstars alum Clement Cazalot will take over his place as managing director of Techstars Boston at the conclusion of the program's Demo Day event Wednesday morning.

Cazalot is a familiar face for anyone who has been involved with Techstars Boston over the last five years. He moved from France to the U.S. to enter the program in 2012 as the CEO and co-founder of DocTrackr, which was acquired by enterprise software vendor Intralinks for $10 million in 2014. While serving as a vice president of technology at Intralinks, Cazalot became an investor and advisor for several startups, as well as serving as a mentor for Techstars Boston.

Dukach described Cazalot as "generally a mensch in our community."

Cazalot told me one of his big goals is to push for collaboration between Boston's dozens of startup accelerators.

"In 2009 when Techstars was started, it was the only accelerator, but there are now more than 50 programs in Boston and there's no reason to [have] competition," he said.

Contrary to what BostInno had previously reported, Semyon said he and Buchatskiy aren't heading to the West Coast and will instead stay in Boston for a new initiative whose goal is to back immigrant founders.

Ty Danco, who has also been a program director at Techstars Boston, is also stepping aside and will take on the role as a mentor-in-residence, Dukach said. No word yet on what else Danco might be working on next.
