Down The Road Beer Co.'s Unique Everett Taproom Opens This Spring

You've likely had their Pukwudgie Pale Ale or Undine DIPA by now. But soon you'll be able to pull up a barstool and drink Down The Road Beer Co.'s brews fresh and from the source.

The City of Everett has granted the company a full pouring license, meaning once they get approval from the state, DTR will be open for business at 151 Bow Street in Everett in about two months, Erin Wand, their VP of marketing, tells me.

"Our 2,800-square-foot taproom will be open 7 days a week and include live entertainment, a dedicated space for private events and outdoor seating when the weather warms up," Wand says.

What's more, in a move that should separate the space from the pack and open it up to a different sort of booze drinker, Springfield-based Artifact Cider will be on draft in regular rotation as well.

The taproom was initially planning to be open on the weekends only but has since decided to throw the doors wide open all week long. Judging from the photos, founder and brewmaster Donovan Bailey and team have a bit of work to do before the ribbon cutting but, says Wand, "progress has been fast and furious."

I visited the space a few months back and can say, though very much a construction site at the time, it is massive and in an area that, much like Night Shift Brewing a mile up the road – or dare I say ... down the road? – was when it opened, seems poised for some development and is sure to see an increase in foot traffic once the Wynn Casino and related projects come online. Being in such close proximity to Night Shift, Bone Up Brewing and Short Path Distillery certainly won't hurt, either.

Down The Road has, since recently, been contract brewing at Dorchester Brewing Company. Once opened, it will feature a 30-barrel brewhouse as well as a smaller 3-barrel system.

"We are building a pretty deep roster of pinball games for the taproom," added Donovan. who hopes to add a Pinball Happy Hour if possible. "We plan on opening with about 15 machines."
