It's about time! Mark Zuckerberg is finally getting a degree from the college he dropped out of.
Harvard announced on Tuesday that Zuckerberg, who founded Facebook in his dorm while attending the school, will speak at its 2017 Commencement on May 25, where he will also receive an honorary degree.
“Mark Zuckerberg’s leadership has profoundly altered the nature of social engagement worldwide. Few inventions in modern times can rival Facebook in its far-reaching impact on how people around the globe interact with one another,” Harvard President Drew Faust said in a statement posted to the university's website. “And few individuals can rival Mark Zuckerberg in his drive to change our world through the innovative use of technology, as well as his commitment to advance science, enhance education, and expand opportunity through the pursuit of philanthropy."
"They know we didn't actually graduate, right?"
In a cheeky video posted to Harvard's website, Zuckerberg asks for advice from fellow Harvard dropout Bill Gates, who returned to the university in 2007 to give a commencement speech.
"They know we didn't actually graduate, right?" Zuckerberg asked Gates.
"Oh, that is the best part. They actually give you a degree," Gates responded.
"You don't even have to go to class?"
"No, no. You just put that degree on your resume and it looks great."
