These days it's not uncommon to take a stroll through the developing Seaport district, which is becoming a city-within-a-city, and think "I wonder what that new construction will be." Well, as it pertains to the burgeoning One Seaport Square complex, there's one less structure you have to wonder about.
As of last week, the team behind the forthcoming Tuscan Kitchen Seaport broke ground for their two-story eatery and Italian restaurant/market/wine bar opening up at the One Seaport Square development in Fall 2017.
Think: 14,000-square feet with seating for 300, a full wine bar with over six-thousand imported and domestic wines (including their own house blended Toscana), all ensconced in a triangle of glass offering sweeping views of the downtown Boston skyline. The location will be situated essentially on the front steps of the Seaport Boulevard T Station, and a new 10 screen cinema will be housed directly above the restaurant.
“We’re very excited about it and thrilled to be collaborating with one of the coolest developments in Boston,” said owner Joe Faro. “It has the right setup with the right tenants and the right mixture of uses, and it’s something the Seaport doesn’t have yet.”
The restaurant will follow suit with the other locations in Salem and Portsmouth, NH, as well as Burlington, Mass., in terms of daily house-made pasta, artisan bakers for fresh bread, and house-curing everything from their salami and salted meats, to their 28-day dry aged steaks. Additionally, they will offer tableside service by way of an 85-lb. wheel of imported Parmesan cheese used to fold freshly-shaved truffles and torch-heated gooey, melted cheese into fresh risotto dishes.
When asked why he chose the Mario Batali-flanked Seaport for his brand of Sicilian hospitality in a town with no shortage of fine Italian restaurants, Faro has nothing but beaming pride both for the sense of community as well as competition in Boston.
“I have all the respect for our local competitors,” he said. “But I would put our passion and authenticity of regional artisan Italian cuisine up against anyone. We celebrate it with our employees and guests, and we’re thrilled to come to Boston.”
