Since you'll spend most of the day today huddled on the couch in front of Netflix with an adult beverage or two (I'm guessing), earn your leisure time by hitting the Boston Common for a bit of friendly sport.

Today, from noon to 3 p.m., a massive snowball fight is planned, beginning at the gazebo and spreading as far afield as it needs. Organized on Facebook by Scott Schaffer, who's listed as a visual media arts student at Emerson College, the event has about a thousand people who say they're going, with another 5,000 listed as interested.

"If it's a snow day tomorrow, this is happening. INVITE ANYONE AND EVERYONE," the event details state.

There don't appear to be any rules or other governing guidelines here, but let's assume headshots are off limits and this is designed to be more for fun than blood sport.

Still, whether you've got the day off or scoot over during your lunch break, what's a good snow storm for if you don't let yourself act like a kid again at least for a little while?
