Boston marketing agency Fluent has acquired a local media startup, Streak Media, that was initially started by Boston College students in 2011. Financial details of the deal weren't disclosed.
Streak, led by 2013 BC grad Michael Nardella, provides daily e-newsletters for a dozen schools including Harvard, BC, MIT, BU and Stanford. The newsletters include local, global and campus news.
Streak Media initially launched as "BC Streak" before growing to include other colleges. The Streak Media unit will continue within Fluent, with four full-time employees, and is aiming to expand to 50 schools in the coming semester.
"Mike and his group of Boston College classmates found an ingenious way to capitalize on the value of immediate, hyperlocal information for campus audiences,” Fluent CEO Chip Rives said in a news release.
