Infographic: Where Mobile Stands in the Marketplace

In coordination with BostInno's State of Innovation event last month, we surveyed nearly 500 readers to gauge their opinions on where mobile stands in the marketplace. Through a combination of thorough research and an interactive forum led by local leaders in marketing, higher education, retail and e-commerce, and mobile, BostInno recognized that the mobile sector, in particular, is a bit misunderstood.

The infographic below visualizes the aggregated data and demonstrates that while businesses recognize mobile's rapidly growing importance, only 43 percent of companies said cultivating a mobile-friendly strategy is "extremely important." Further, the study reveals a disconnect between companies and loyal buyers when it comes to building a rapport over mobile. While 29 percent of consumers shared that they wanted to interact with their favorite brands on an app platform, companies ranked email, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and even Pinterest before apps for preferred channels to interact with consumers.
