Infographic: Are Brands Spending Their Marketing Budgets in a Way That’s Paying Off?

After surveying nearly 500 readers in conjunction with BostInno’s State of Innovation Forum, the inconceivable surfaced: proof consumers want emails. No, really.

Although “native” has been touted “the next phase of advertising,” 54 percent of BostInno respondents said they prefer interacting with brands in their inbox. Customers don’t want to download another mobile app, but are willing to read emails on their phone. In fact, consumers claimed they use their phones most for social media, personal email and work email.

Twitter came in a close second, with 49 percent of respondents saying they would rather interact with brands in 140-characters or less, with Facebook falling to third. Thirty-nine percent pegged it their preferred form of communication.

But, are brands paying attention?

Through in-depth research and an interactive forum, we delved deeper into the trends being seen in the world of marketing. For a better understanding of how consumers are feeling, and where brands are going wrong, take an exclusive look at our findings below.
