It feels like the quiet holiday season may already be here: November was a slow month for venture capital funding, with Boston-area companies raising around $280 million by our count.
That’s far below the $1.12 billion companies brought in during October and the $1.7 billion they raised in September.

Biotech
Cambridge venture firm Flagship Pioneering spun out $50M startup, Quotient Therapeutics, to mine new drugs from genetic mutations.
Boston-based Ascidian Therapeutics raised $40M in Series A extension funding by Apple Tree Partners.
Project Samri Inc., a newly formed biotechnology company based in Boston, raised $10.5 million.
Medtech
Elucid, Boston medical technology startup, raised $80M for its technology to “optimize” heart disease diagnosis.
The Boston biomedical startup Stellaromics raised a $25M Series A financing round.
Watertown-based Jana Care Inc. announced the initial closing of a $6M financing round. The company is developing at-home, self-administered testing technologies for chronic kidney and heart disease management.
Marketing tech
The Boston marketing technology company OfferFit announced its $25M Series B funding round led by Menlo Ventures.
Software
Boston-based Stockpress, a file management platform, raised $1.8M in seed funding.
Wecover Platforms Inc., a Cambridge-based startup incorporated last year, raised just over $6 million in equity. The startup is using AI for customer service and workplace automation.
Cleantech
Aclarity Inc. raised nearly $16M in a Series A round. The Mansfield company is developing technology to destroy PFAS “forever chemicals.”
AM Batteries Inc., a Chelmsford-based company working on a new process to reduce cost of battery-grade electrodes production, raised $26.9 million.
Retail
Boston-based retail business BinStar Inc. raised $2.79 million.
Funds
Flagship Pioneering, the Cambridge venture firm, is looking to raise $3B for its eighth fund.
New Heritage Capital, a Boston-based private equity firm, closed its $438M fourth fund.
Boston-based Material Impact closed a $352M third fund meant for material science innovation.
Founder Collective, a Cambridge-based firm that specializes in seed-stage funding, raised just over $95M for its fifth fund.
