Alabama's fourth Techstars class has been unveiled.

Techstars Alabama EnergyTech Accelerator chose 12 startups for the fall class of 2023. The early-stage companies are addressing challenges in categories including energytech, climatetech, sustainability and more.

Taking place in Birmingham, the three-month mentorship-driven program is bringing together founders from across the globe, including one Alabama company. The 2023 class was chosen based on what Techstars determined were innovative products in areas that will revolutionize how people live and work.

The program will culminate with Demo Day, an in-person event which will be held Dec. 5. Founders will have the opportunity to pitch their businesses to a community of investors and mentors.

The 2023 class is as follows:

  • Ai-Ops of Mobile is a software developer that provides bolt-on solutions for next-generation artificial intelligence industrial control systems.
  • BlueTanks of Charlotte, North Carolina, creates software that helps electric vehicle drivers access the most convenient charging points optimized for their vehicles.
  • Clever Offsets of New York is a data company that provides clients with analysis and insights on navigating the carbon offset market.
  • EarthABC of Cleveland provides an open-access climate portal to help businesses achieve sustainability, providing financial incentives, technology vendors and consultants to enable companies to take action sooner.
  • EV Safe Charge of Los Angeles is the developer of Ziggy, a robotic mobile EV charging platform that provides options for users of all types of electric vehicles.
  • Grid Discovery of Hoboken, New Jersey, is a software platform for engineers and city planners, aiming to transform how microgrid projects are envisioned, planned and proposed.
  • Infranergy of Miami is the developer of solar-powered and battery energy storage products and technology to reduce energy costs, decarbonize and balance the grid, aiming to ensure resilience and equitable access to clean energy for overlooked communities and businesses.
  • Maverick IQ of Atlanta integrates engineering, software and IoT solutions to reduce operations and maintenance costs and drive productivity.
  • Meredot of Riga, Latvia, is a micromobility wireless charging option that serves a wide range of vehicle models.
  • Pitch Aeronautics of Boise, Idaho, is the developer of a wind-stabilized drone that performs up-close, robotic tasks that enables users to "leave the helicopters, cranes and bucket trucks at home.”
  • ScoutIT of Raleigh, North Carolina, is taking on the EV battery circular economy by attempting to help companies extract greater value from end-of-life batteries.
  • SplitEV of New York is a subscription and booking service that offers EV drivers access to a network of privately owned charging stations while helping charger owners monetize underutilized assets.

Past participants of the program have relocated their companies and opened facilities in Birmingham following the program's conclusion, including Birdstop, ShipShape Urban Farms and Idyllo.

Alabama's Techstars program is now located in Innovation Depot after a move earlier this year.
