Q&A with Rae'Mah Henderson, program manager, investment associate

The Techstars Alabama EnergyTech Accelerator was founded in 2020, and is has five employees.

What does innovation mean to you?

Innovation for us is the privilege of investing in the right founders and companies. These founders are solving the most complex problems in the energy, climate, sustainability and customer experience sector.

What ways has your program innovated and/or created meaningful impact?

For the past three years, we have selected over 30 unique companies to come to Birmingham from all over the world (as far as Kuala Lumpur, but as close as Mobile). Each one of these companies provides new, cutting-edge and innovative solutions to the marketplace. Some of these companies have even decided to stay in Birmingham, creating new regional jobs and opportunities. Lastly, others have gone on to raise large amounts of capital.

What else do you want people to know about your program?

Techstars believes that entrepreneurs help to better our world and that entrepreneurs can be found anywhere. (Matt Jaeh, managing director) and I firmly believe in this and believe in the great undiscovered opportunities here in our community.
