Q&A with Ritchie Kruunenberg, director of marketing and operations
Innovation Depot opened its doors to tenants in 2007. The current Innovation Depot team consists of six employees.
What does innovation mean to you?
Innovation is part of our mission. Innovation Depot’s mission is to incubate and accelerate tech and bio-focused, high-growth businesses by providing a proven blueprint for success, support in strategic areas, and access to an inclusive and supportive community. We add value by being a catalyst for growth to our members, partners and community. We are focused on creating a community and network of entrepreneurs that fosters idea generation and collaboration.
What ways has the Depot innovated and/or created meaningful impact?
Innovation Depot has advanced Birmingham’s innovative economy by increasing the pipeline into entrepreneurship and focusing resources on promising founders so that their companies create value and increase our economic impact. We do this by supporting founders in all stages of entrepreneurship: ideation, incubation and acceleration.
We are creating impact by providing resources, mentorship, coaching, marketing and events to over 100 member companies in our incubator.
What else do you want people to know?
We have rolled out a community membership. For $50 per month, people get access to our building, get to work from our common areas and attend our events.
We are building out a corporate event space that will have a capacity of about 150 people. This will be the perfect space for board meetings, annual corporate retreats or team retreats, panel discussions, and corporate celebrations such as happy hours or anniversaries.
Innovation Depot previously has been 100% occupied, but we currently have some office space available.
