A company that makes free Bible-based video games has expanded its space in Innovation Depot and made new hires.
Intelligent Media and Design, which has been at the Depot for several years, now has four employees after bringing on three new team members in the past year. It also has five additional people it contracts for game development.
One of the new hires is the Rev. David Ely, director of ministry. Ely is a native of Alabama and a graduate of Auburn University and Covenant Theological Seminary. He has more than 10 years of experience in development, fundraising and ordained ministry.
IMD publishes video games that its leaders hope will shift attention from traditional media to Bible-based games and content. The company's website encourages parents who are "tired of children wasting time playing pointless games" to get children engaged with IMD's Bible games instead.
"We have a vision that merges gamification and the Holy Bible to equip God’s people and we are committed to sharing His word by publishing games and lesson plans to help disciple the nations," the site states.
IMD's The Anointed Franchise is dedicated to "telling stories of the Bible’s mightiest heroes through gameplay, cinematography and scripture," according to the site. The Anointed franchise begins with David Saves Keliah, an early access release of the company's first title, The Anointed.
The company is a 501(c) 3 nonprofit video game publisher.
