At Zello, it's all about communications.
The push-to-talk mobile chat startup has been cited as a must-have app for emergency responders and residents during major disasters, especially hurricanes. Its app, which is similar to a walkie-talkie function that requires less bandwidth than a normal call, has also become key for people communicating across borders from places of conflict such as Argentina.
Whether used by businesses such as Restoration Hardware of the W Hotel, or for those emergency situations, Zello's mission is essentially making it easier for people to work together.
Now the Austin startup is making its own nest a little more collaborative. The company announced Thursday it is opening a new, 14,000-square-foot workspace in the Harland Plaza building at 1717 W. 6th St.
Zello currently has 33 full-time employees, and their new space provides room for its expansion plans (at the moment, they have four jobs posted). Their app now has 135 million registered users, and it reported 25% customer growth last year.
Here's a look inside their new space.
